WordPress.comさん、横暴すぎますね

Bloggerには関係ないお話ですが、ご参考のために…

先日６日にWordPress.comより突然、下記のメールが入りました。

『こんにちは、simple10さん。

まもなく予定されているサブスクリプションプランの変更に関する重要なお知らせです。2018年12月19日以降、WordPress.com プランに更新時の無料ドメインクレジットは含まれなくなります。

サイト、ツール、プランのメリットが変わることはありません。このポリシーの変更はドメイン登録のみに影響します。

変更が行われる前だけのお得なお知らせです。期間限定でプラン更新を特別価格で提供します (さらに、1年間のドメイン利用料が無料になります)。

このドメインクレジットの変更は次の請求日から有効になり、パーソナルプランのドメインsimple10-space.comと¥4,800に対して¥3,200の料金が適用されます。

オファーは2018年12月18日まで有効です』

要するに、パーソナル・プランの年間費用4,800円には独自ドメインの費用が含まれていましたが、今月の１９日からは、独自ドメイン費用は別に発生し、年間3,200円が掛かりますということです。
つまり、次回の更新時からは年間8,000円の費用になりますよと通告してきているわけです。

WordPress.comの財務内容に異変が起きているのかもしれませんが…
それにしましても、７０％近い値上げだけではなく、その有無を言わせない横暴なやり方に唖然としましたね”(-“”-)”

この件に関してWordPress.comのサポートスタッフとチャットとした内容は次の通りです：

1. When I bought Personal plan, you didn’t make the domain fee clear just telling me its cost was included to the plan. If it were clear, I could have made another choice of lower-cost domain.

For the point one, we have all the domain pricing available here in this public facing document, https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/ > Furthermore, you can register any domain extension if you have a plan without any extra cost. But when you come to checkout page, we do show the pricing for the PLAN, DOMAIN name.

Since, there wasn’t any extra cost, hence the separate pricing was not displayed on every page of the checkout flow.

It was only displayed on the last step of checkout page. Did you get a chance to see that?

Furthermore, this pricing can also be seen at purchase page here,

For point 2, we were giving out the domain as free along with the plans. So it was an added benefit for the users. But if you check out in the outer market,

You would see that the domains are always kept separate.

I hope this helps you clarify your doubt.

Also, our teams are still working on finalizing the pricing but it would take some time for this to take effect.

First of all, when I purchased from “参加サイト”, your statement was the domain cost was included in the Plan and no remark telling it’s just temporary service.

As for .com domain market price, as long as I know, it is JPY1,400.

Also, your site in the above explanation shows JPY2,200 for .com domain.

I understand this is not something you were anticipating. Note that if you choose to renew by December 19th, you’ll be able to secure your subscription, including the domain, for ¥4,800 one last time.

Your subscription expires on March 20, 2019. Whether you renew it today or on March 20, 2019, it will be bumped by 1 year, and will expire on March 20, 2020.

今回の大幅な値上げに関して、私がアンフェアだと主張した点は次の通りです：

• 私がパーソナルプランを購入した時には、独自ドメインの費用は明記されておらず、それはパーソナルプラン（年間料金4,800円）に含まれていると述べられているだけでした。
• もし、独自ドメインの費用が明記されていたなら、私は安い独自ドメインを選択することが出来ました。
• 元のパーソナルプランには独自ドメインの費用が含まれています。
  貴社が独自ドメインの費用をパーソナルプランの料金から独立させるとするなら、その分だけパーソナルプランの料金を引き下げるべきです。

まあ、何方でも考える問題点だと思います。

サポートスタッフからの回答は；

• 独自ドメイン価格リストはWordPressのサイトで公開されています。
• （購入手続きの流れの中では、この情報はありませんでした）独自ドメインの費用は請求していませんでしたので、プランには独自ドメインの費用は掲載されていませんでした。
• WordPressでは独自ドメインを無料で提供していましたが、他社ではブログサービス費用と独自ドメイン費用を常に分けて（請求して）います。
• WordPressのチームは最終的な価格設定に今でも取り組んでおり、最終的に設定された価格を実施するまでには、暫く時間が掛かります。
  （じゃあ～、次回の更新時に請求される4,800円＋独自ドメイン3,200円は一体何なんだと思いますよね）

この弁明に対して私は；

• 「参加サイト」から私がプランを購入した際には、独自ドメインはプランに含まれているとあり、それは一時的なサービスという但書もありませんでした。
• 私が知る限りでは、“.com”ドメイン相場は1,400円です。
• 上記の説明の中にある貴社のドメイン価格リストでは、“.com”ドメインは2,200円となってます。
  （次回から請求されるsimple10-space.comの価格は3,200円です）

と言ったのですが…

それに対してサポートスタッフは；

• そのことは、私は分かります。我社は最近、価格政策を変えました。それを来年から実施しようとしています。今後、独自ドメインはプランの料金の中には含まれません。
• 独自ドメインがプランの料金の中に含まれるのは一時的なサービスだという説明はありませんでしたが、ただ、価格政策が変わっただけです。

という返事をくれました。

私が；

• 今回の大幅な値上げは、断ることのできない手術の費用値上げを突然されるような類ですね。

と皮肉ったことに、サポートスタッフが反応してくれて；

• この大幅な値上げは、貴方は思いも寄らなかったことだと思います。
• ただ、１２月１８日までに更新手続きを済ませますと、更に１年間だけ今まで通りの4,800円で続けることが出来るのです。
  （上記の英文に19thとあるのは間違いです）

という結論めいたメッセージでした。

このチャットで何か特別な解決策に辿り着けたわけでは全くありませんが、WordPress内部で、未だ、最終的な価格政策が決定しておらず、揉めているという印象ですね。

彼らが公表しているドメイン価格リストhttps://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/内で、“.com”ドメインは2,200円となっているにも拘わらず、私のドメインsimple10-space.comの価格は3,200円と決めてきているのですから…

また、“.com”ドメイン相場の1,400円からしますと、高すぎます。

更に、パーソナルプランの利用価値はかなり小さいです…
無料と異なる大きな点は、広告が掲載されないことと保存スペースが６Gになる程度でしょうか。

問題は、テーマのカスタマイズが殆ど出来ないことです。
HTMLもCSSも使えません。
フォントサイズすら変更できません(-_-;)

このプランだけのために年間4,800円も払う価値は無さそうですね。

まあ、取り合えず、今月１８日までに更新し、今後どうするかは時間を掛けて考えることにします。
